A few of the different choices today |
Alternative energy sources are becoming increasingly popular amongst society today. These types of sources are created to help better the environment and to sustain our current natural resources. However, developing new alternative energy resources poses a few questions for researchers; will the new resources provide the same effect as the old ones? Also, will the new alternative energy resources sustain society longer or shorter than the previous resource? Lastly, another important factor that researchers must cope with, is dealing with the potential negative effects that could cause more damage to society and wildlife than the previous resource. Along with researchers, these are the same basic questions that people in our society are asking due to the heavy dependence on energy sources. Finding the correct resources are one of the hardest missions that researchers have to face, because they have to find the source that produces a more efficient form of the one that already exists.
However, with that being said, there have still been great strides in the alternative resources field. Daily transportation alone has slowly moved in the green direction, from original gas guzzling vehicles to the introduction of hybrid gas-electric cars and even fully functioning electric cars. The electric cars today are totally unrecognizable from their gasoline counterparts, that is, until you realize how much money you saved from never having to refuel again! Even beyond individual level, now governments are making clear efforts to also find new alternatives. The country of Nepal has devised a solar powered plan to help reduce its use of electricity. With very high demands of electricity in very underdeveloped areas, the country is struggling with consistent power outages in many of its key regions. Thus, with the help of solar panels, the government is hoping to significantly reduce stress on the nation’s power grid. This article can be seen at: Nepal Solar-Panel Mission. These are just a few examples of the creative world we live in today, which is needed in a time where the clock is ticking for certain resources.
Now, why is all of this important to you? If you are a college student, the last thing you are probably worrying about is the environment. You have a busy schedule with classes and a job and with finals coming right around the corner, saving the environment probably would not even make it on the list. No one is saying that finding alternative energy sources will be solved today, but actions taken today will help shape the future. As the saying goes, it is the small things that leave the greatest effect. As college students, we are the future, we are the ones that are going to have to eventually deal with this. Why not take some actions now so the problem does not get worse to the point of no return. We live in an era where technology and research rule all and with the proper mindset, we can shape tomorrow to be better than today.
Chirag,
ReplyDeleteVery interesting title! I totally agree with our blogger who wrote "9 sign of effective blog post" that if the title isn't good enough, chances are the post will never be read. And it is great that you have come up with such an interesting title.
I would like to make just a few points on the structure of your blog post. I see that you have included a link in your post, if I'm not wrong, we were supposed to add a direct link in our post so that no http show up. I would look into that for the next blog post!
Also, I would suggest either highlighting or making bullet points somewhere in your post, it really helps to put emphasis on some parts as also mentioned in "9 signs of effective blog post".
You have chosen a very important issue. It is true that we are exhausting our current resources and it is crucial to come up with better and more sustainable sources for the future. My only question is that what actions exactly do you want us students to take? I think if you emphasize a little on what students can actually do to contribute in preserving sources or coming up with new ones that would give your blog post a more finished look.
Best of luck with the upcoming ones!
As Rimsha stated, your title is very interesting. It actually is one of the reasons why I chose to read your blog. This just proves why a good title is so important. Your topic is actually very interesting. I like how you included all the information about Nepal and how they are trying to make the shift to solar powered energy. I did not know that Nepal was actually making that shift and this made me want to look into that further. I like how you also made a direct connection with the reader (us, college students) and answered the question: why is this important to us? Great job!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting topic Chirag. I am sure you will not have problems finding references to complement your ideas in this topic. Good idea to insert the image on the top of your blog, it instantly gives this click that connects readers with the title and gives them an idea of what blog is going to be about. I liked the way you presented your second paragraph. However, I would have liked to see some examples to support your ideas. For example, you could talk about the specific benefits of buying an electric car; in what positive ways this can affect the industries, the environment, people, etc. Quick advise, you need to set the link of your reference, so it opens in a new window.
ReplyDeleteThe title really captures the audience attention as it captured mine. Your post really envisions the nine signs of an effective blog post. The title encourages the audience to read the post to see what the title means and your visual really offers an idea of what the post is about. The in text links is really good which offers some great resources for your audience. Your ending paragraph then interests the reader for why it is important for them and especially for the sake of the class it is really good that you geared it to the majority being college students.
ReplyDeleteHi Chirag,
ReplyDeleteI am also doing my blog on alternative energy sources, except I am doing mine on nuclear energy. I agree that we need to focus more on alternative energy sources so that we can preserve our future and the environment. I liked your example about the shift towards electric cars and other transportation methods.
What do you think the future of this whole "green" movement will be like in the next couple of years? How do we go about implementing them?
I liked your title of the post as well as the breaks in paragraphs and the picture that you included. These all made your post more interesting/easy to read. Good job so far!
Chirag,
ReplyDeleteYour title is very creative and is what drew me in to read your blog. I like how you incorporated the reader in your last paragraph. You also raise the question of why this should matter. Of course this is great, because if you do not declare why your topic is relevant then why should the reader even care? Perhaps you could maybe place that more towards the beginning to keep the reader interested rather than having it at the end when maybe the reader already stopped half way.
